This configuration allows us to create some striking patterns from a full range of our stock hardwoods.
These boards are known in the workshop as stripy boards. The wood is cut such that you are looking at the side of branch or trunk of the tree.
This type of board is popular because it allows a great variety of pattern design and also because the edge grain is more resilient to knife marks than face grain.
The wood is sawn, planed and sanded to size depending on the pattern required. Once fastened together the complete boards are planed flat, surface and edges sanded before being hand sanded to a final finish.
They are generally made in three standard sizes:
Small 400 mm x 295 mm
Medium 450 mm x 295 mm
Large 550 mm x 295 mm
If you would like to choose your own pattern and size this can be accommodated in the Bespoke Products section of this site.
